Equipping you to live in the freedom and joy you have in Christ

Stressed. Overwhelmed. Anxious. Depressed. Uncertain about your next right step. Lacking confidence. Struggling with a relationship. Needing boundaries. Stuck in unhealthy cycles. Struggling with guilt and shame. Unable to get over the past. Facing an unknown future.

If any (or all) of this sounds familiar, I want you to know that you are not alone, and you don't have to face this alone. I welcome the opportunity to hear your story and walk with you toward the freedom and joy that you have in Christ.

My Approach

Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world; but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.

My approach is rooted in the love of Christ for a compassionate and welcoming space for you to share your unique story and struggle.

My goal is to equip you with skills that will not only help you through your current challenges, but that you will be able to take with you to apply to any future difficulty you may face.

I use a method of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy called Rational Living Therapy. This is a collaborative approach in which we work together within the context of your unique situation. In session, you will share, learn and practice new skills. In between sessions, you will have personal development assignments that reinforce what you are learning by putting it into practice in real time in real situations you face daily. This not only helps you experience results sooner, it helps develop your ability to use these skills on your own and essentially learn to "self-counsel" along with scripture, prayer, and the inner working of the Holy Spirit.

Through this process, I help you learn and put into a practice healthier thought and behavior patterns that align with who you are in Christ and your desire to live according to God's will.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 - All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Why Christian Counseling?

When seeking counsel or therapy, it is important to choose a counselor that shares your beliefs, values, and worldview. All therapists work within some form of theoretical framework, meaning the approach and techniques they use are chosen based on that person's beliefs about the human condition. When that framework does not align with your own beliefs about humanity, the cause of our problems, and what it means to be well, it can create a barrier to the therapeutic process.

The evidence-based CBT techniques that I use in my approach can be used in a secular setting, however, those situations ultimately rely on self-motivation toward change and a worldly view of problems, "facts", and solutions. These techniques can and do certainly help improve your life, but they don't connect you to the true source of hope, healing, and sanctification that can only come through Christ.

Christian counseling requires that both the counselor and the counselee are Christian, and the counselee seeks to receive biblically-based counsel. In Christian CBT, the basis of truth lies in scripture and the source of change is the Holy Spirit. Rather than self-focused, the ultimate goal in Christian counseling is to become more like Jesus Christ and live according to His will. This means placing our identity, purpose, desires, and strength in Him.

About Me

I work with Christian women who are feeling the weight of life's burdens, be it difficult circumstances or inner struggles, and it is all feeling too heavy to carry. Women who want to move forward in faith, but don't know what the "right" next step is in her unique situation.

Through my 15 years of experience in the mental health field, as well as my own personal struggles, I firmly believe that the only true source of help and healing comes through the very one who created us and knows our innermost being. As a Christian counselor, it is my job to give you the tools and insight that will help equip you to live aligned with the truth of God's word.

I earned my master's degree in social work from the University of Tennessee and am currently working toward earning my clinical social work license under the guidance of experienced licensed professionals. I am currently working toward a certificate in biblical counseling.
