Work + Career

Christian counseling for women in Chambersburg & throughout Pennsylvania

As you head to your mundane job, you wonder if you’ll ever get the courage to pursue something better.

It pays the bills, but you know you’re qualified for more. There are other things you’d love to do but never feel ready to actually go for them.

If you're struggling with the confidence to make a change in your career, welcome. You're in the the right place.

You wonder if you'll ever be able to go after the job you want. â€‹

At work you feel taken advantage of, unappreciated, overlooked, and overqualified.

Your lack of confidence and self-doubt has kept you from going after the types of jobs you dream of.

There’s a constant feeling of needing to prove yourself. You read, research, take classes, and do everything to prepare yourself for a career that lights you up. But you never feel ready to take the plunge.

You can barely enjoy your weekends, because there’s a constant sense of anxiety and dread about going back into work on Monday morning.

You wonder if you’ll ever be able to move forward toward the life you want.

Ephesian 2:10 says, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

God has not given you a Spirit of fear

As stuck as you feel in your current situation, I know there is a bit of safety tied into it, too.

If you take the leap, you could fall. There may be financial risk to leave a job you’ve been at for a while.

Imposter syndrome is real. You could have fear around people thinking you don’t know what you’re doing. You might wonder if people will say “who does she think she is?” when you go after something bigger or different than you’re known for.

Your talents and interests are no mistake. Not only did God uniquely design and create you, He gave you new life - a life of freedom - in Christ.

This new life releases fear to make way for living fully in who you were created to be.

It is possible to love the work you do

Imagine waking up on Monday morning excited about the work you will be doing this week.

You feel energized as you think about the positive impact you’ll have on others’ lives and your own.

Rather than “work”, it feels more like living with purpose. You didn’t know it was possible to feel this aligned with your career.

Imagine feeling confident, because you’re doing the things that lights up your heart, mind, body, and soul. You’re showing up with a heart of service and trading perfection for trust in the work God is doing through you.

How I can help

Palm Tree Leaves_edited_edited.png

In Christ, there is freedom from fear, feelings of inadequacy, and anxiety.

I use a Christian-based Cognitive Behavioral model of counseling that helps you replace thoughts and beliefs that lead to feelings of inferiority and self-doubt with the truth of God’s word.

The source of change is the Holy Spirit, and the ultimate goal is to become more like Jesus and live according to His will. This means placing our identity, purpose, desires, and strength in Him.

Using knowledge and skills from biblical counseling methods, I help you uncover the barriers that are holding you back, so you can find freedom through approaching them from a biblical perspective.

Even though you’re seeking Christian counseling, I know that, for a variety of reasons, you might not feel ready to jump right into scripture or even prayer. You want to believe God’s promises, but you might be in a place where you’re angry with God or doubt His love for you. I will meet you where you are spiritually to gently lead you toward the truth of His word.

We will work together in session as you learn and apply new skills to shift your thoughts and behaviors toward living aligned with your values, identity, and purpose as a Christian.

Between sessions, you will put these skills into practice.

Working both in and between sessions will help you see results faster and enable you to experience long term results.

I know you’re ready and willing to do what it takes, you just need the support and guidance to take the right steps forward. And I would love to help you do that.

You may feel hesitant to start counseling related to your job or career because you don’t feel ready to take the leap toward doing something different yet.

If you’re afraid of having to jump into something you’re not ready for, don’t worry. Your counseling journey will start with where you are in order to help you prepare and equip you for the very next step.

Counseling will help you address and overcome those barriers that are keeping you from feeling ready, so that, when the time is right, you will be able to confidently pursue the things that are on your heart.

Maybe you think that counseling would just be one more thing you are doing to “prepare” for something different, rather than actually going after the thing you want to pursue.

While you may have done other things to prepare you for what you really want to do, counseling will help you identify those things that are actually holding you back so you can move past them and take real action toward your goals.

Counseling will provide support, accountability, and action that will move you forward, not only in your career but in all areas of your life.
