Christian Counseling for Anxiety

Serving women in-person in Chambersburg and online throughout PA

Learn to cultivate calm in your mind and body in way that fits your faith and values.

If you're looking for freedom from anxiety, stress, and overwhelm -welcome. You're in the the right place.

You're afraid if you stop everything will fall apart.

You keep waiting for things to get better but now things feel more overwhelming than ever.

Anxiety has a sneaking way of slowly taking over. It leaves you mentally drained by jumping from one worry to the next. Your ability to focus and be present has become nearly impossible. Simple tasks take longer - or don't get done at all - because you’re overthinking everything.

As you replay conversations over and over, you second-guess yourself and worry about what people are thinking. You feel it in your body - tightness, headaches, nausea, unsteady breathing, and an underlying sense of dread and panic.

You zone out by scrolling Instagram and Facebook, but, instead of relief, the comparison leads to a negative thought-spiral of worry. You feel like you will never measure up or be the person you think you should be.

It seems easier to avoid people or situations that bring up anxious thoughts and feelings, but just leads to feeling guilty and even more alone. Being busy "getting things done" seems productive, but it leaves you worn out and disconnected. When you finally stop and lay down for the night, your mind keeps going.

You can’t remember the last time you actually just relaxed and did something fun. You’re not even sure what you find fun anymore. Really, you would just like to have a day where you didn’t break down in tears.

Symptoms of anxiety

What you are experiencing is all too common. Women are more stressed and overwhelmed than ever.

Which leads to anxiety, depression, and physical symptoms.

Know this: your identity and worth are not defined by your performance.

You don't have to continue carrying it all.

What if you could let go of the things that you don’t need to be carrying, so you can make room for the things that really matter?

God created you for a purpose and that purpose does not include bearing the burden of everything on your shoulders. Worry, fear, guilt, shame, and constant pressure are not part of His plan for your life.

I would love to help support you on your journey toward living in the peace and joy that God has for you.

How I can help

Christian counseling for anxiety approach

My approach to anxiety counseling is compassionate, practical, and at your pace. I will meet you where you are as I learn about you, what you're struggling with, and your goals. We will work together to equip you with tools and skills for life-long success.

Together, we will:

  • Identify what you really want

  • Uncover the underlying sources of the anxiety

  • Learn to reduce your stress responses and physical reactions

  • Break free from unhelpful habits and behaviors

  • Develop new, goals-based habits and behaviors

  • Draw on your faith for your identity, worth, and purpose

  • Equip you for life-long success

Even though you’re seeking Christian counseling, I know that you might be struggling with your faith in some ways. I will meet you where you are spiritually to incorporate your faith at your comfort level.

You may feel like your life is so busy and wonder if adding one more thing - like counseling - will just cause more stress and overwhelm.

Overcoming anxiety and its effects is not only for you but also for your family and loved ones. Prolonged stress can eventually result in long-term mental, emotional, and physical effects.

As an alternative to weekly counseling, the counseling intensive model is perfect for busy schedules, because you can just clear off one chunk of time and then get back to your life with your new-found tools and skills. This experience will not only impact you but will have a ripple effect on your relationships.

Maybe you think you can just try harder to be better organized and read your Bible more, and you’ll take time to relax once things settle down a bit.

While organization and reading your Bible is helpful, if it was that easy, you probably would have gotten past your anxiety by now. Counseling can help you gain insight and self-awareness to get to the root of your anxiety.

Then together, we can work on solving the underlying problem - so you don't just feel better but get better.

(And we all know how waiting for things to “settle down” goes ;) )
