Low Self-Worth
Christian counseling for women in Chambersburg & throughout Pennsylvania
You’re feeling lost and defeated. Everyone seems to be moving forward in life, but you’re just… stuck.

You're tired. Physically and mentally. You had hopes and dreams, but you've been too afraid to actually live life.

If you're struggling with self-doubt, fear of what people think, and lack of confidence and want to live in freedom, hope, and purpose, then welcome. You're in the the right place.
It's hard to shake the feeling of inferiority.
You've been too afraid to show up confidently in your own life. You know you shouldn't be led by fear, but you just can't seem to move past it.
Your lack of confidence and self-doubt has kept you from so many things that you would love to pursue.

There’s a constant feeling of needing to be who and what you think people expect. It seems everyone else has it together, so you put their needs and opinions over your own. You avoid confrontation by politely nodding and going along with others rather than voicing your own thoughts.

You want deeper friendships, but it’s hard to reach out to people. They all seem busy, and you don’t want them to feel obligated. So, your friendships often feel like the other person is running the show, and you’re just tagging along.

Anytime you start moving toward a goal, your fear gets the best of you. When it challenges your comfort zone, you quit, telling yourself you didn’t really want to do that anyway.

Fear has kept you from living the life you want, but you don’t know how to move past it.

You’re not meant to go through life hiding, trying to measure up to others, and dimming the light God has lit in you.
Matthew 5:14-16 says, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Perhaps it’s time to let go of your fear.
Fear of failure, of what people think, of disappointing yourself again.

God has created you with purpose. He gave you a unique combination of gifts, abilities, and interests that only you have.

It may be hard to see the value that lies in you now, but it is possible to learn to trust that what God created in you is beautiful and can be used for His purpose and glory.
Imagine living in the freedom of who you were created to be as a child of God.
Living for Christ rather than for others, or even for yourself, gives you the strength to speak up at the right time.
It gives you the courage to reach out to others in love.
It gives you the wisdom to set boundaries to cultivate healthy relationships.

Being confident in your identity in Christ will allow you to step out in faith to go after those things that you dream of, knowing that, even if you fail, it does not define your worth.

Knowing your worth - bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus - means no longer comparing your life to others and trying to live up to what other people might expect.
It means leaning into those unique gifts, abilities, and interests He gave you.

Imagine letting your light shine.

How I can help

I want you to know that this is possible. You can shift your perspective and gain confidence as you let go of fear, self-doubt, and feelings of inferiority.

I use a Cognitive Behavioral model of Christian counseling that helps you replace negative thinking and beliefs that lead to feelings of low self-worth with the truth of God’s word.

As Christians, the ultimate goal is to become more like Jesus and live according to His will, allowing the Holy Spirit to create change in us. This means placing our identity, purpose, desires, and strength in Christ.

Using biblical counseling methods, I help you find the cause of your low self-worth and lack of confidence, so you can find freedom through approaching them from a biblical perspective.

For a variety of reasons, you might not feel ready to jump right into scripture or even prayer. Even though you are seeking Christian counseling, you might be in a place where you’re angry with God or doubt His love for you. I will meet you where you are spiritually to gently lead you toward the truth of His word.

We will work together in session as you learn and apply new skills to shift your thoughts and behaviors toward living aligned with your values, identity, and purpose as a Christian.
Between sessions, you will put these skills into practice.

Working both in and between sessions will help you see results faster and enable you to experience long term results.

I know you’re ready and willing to do what it takes, you just need the support and guidance to take the right steps forward. And I would love to help you do that.
You may feel scared that you will try this, it won’t work, and you will just disappoint yourself again.
If you are willing to show up, share, learn, and put into practice what you learn, then it would be hard to walk away with nothing changed. Having someone to offer guidance, knowledge, skills, and support will only increase your chance of success. You don’t have to keep struggling alone.

Think about where you might be a year from now. If you don’t try this and nothing changes, how might your life be? How will you feel?

If you do try it and it works, how might your life be? How will you feel?
You might be wondering if you will be expected to do awkward things to get out of your comfort zone like go up and talk to strangers or take a public speaking class.
Don’t worry, I will not give you any “assignments” like that.
We will work together on your goals for therapy. Much of your work will be internal.
If or when you decide to pursue something that may put you out of your comfort zone, I will help you come up with a plan and support you in taking action in a way that works for you. I will help you work through internal thoughts and feelings that may prohibit you from moving forward toward your goal.
